2009 Holiday Club
On Tuesday 18th August, 30 volunteers
gathered to set up for the holiday club. They set up team bases, a
craft area, the sports hall and a refreshment area.
At 1pm we open the doors to 57 excited
children. The holiday club ran for 4 days at Honywood Community Science
School, for children aged 5 – 11 years. The point was to provide 2
hours a day of fun and a chance to learn about the Christian faith.
Each day had a different theme; we covered creation, David and Goliath,
Daniel and the lions and the story of Jesus.
Each day the children would spend time
with their group, making their base look better and more exciting. Then
there was an “altogether” session where we sang action songs, told
jokes and learnt about the story of the day through a DVD. Then the
children split into smaller groups to do craft, sports or have
refreshments.
The children had a great time, engaging
in all the activities, and a special mention must go to the blue team
as they won the prize for the best group over the 4 days.
Congratulations! We hope to run another holiday club next year, but the
dates are not yet confirmed.
A huge thank you needs to go to all the
different people who helped with the set up and running of the Holiday
club. It really would not have happened without you!
